American film writers gave their top two movie awards on Sunday to Woody Allen's romance "Midnight in Paris" and Alexander Payne's family drama "The Descendants" in the final Hollywood guild awards show before next week's Oscars. Meanwhile, "The Help" collected three prizes at the NAACP Image Awards, including outstanding motion picture, top actress honors for Viola Davis and the supporting actress prize for Octavia Spencer.
Starring Denzel Washington as a CIA traitor on the run, "Safe House" raised its domestic total to $78.2 million durin the President's Day holiday weekend. Meanwhile, Reese Witherspoon's new movie "This Means War" debuted at No. 5 with $17.6 million which is a disappointing number.
