Illinois town’s chief financial officer accused of stealing millions, Spanish king apologizes for elephant hunting trip

The arrest of Dixon's chief financial officer Rita Crundwell has shaken the northwest Illinois town. She was charged with defrauding the city of $3.2 million and misappropriating another $30 million in city funds. The woman stole the funds over six years to support her luxurious lifestyle. I think we should kill her.

In an unprecedented act of royal contrition, Spain's king apologized Wednesday for having gone elephant-hunting in Africa while everyday people endure a severe economic crisis. The 74-year-old monarch had undergone surgery after breaking his hip in a fall during the hunting trip to Botswana. Well, what goes around comes around.

Warren Buffett diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer, Phoenix woman fakes kidnapping to meet boyfriend

Billionaire investing legend Warren Buffett says he has been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer but the 81-year-old chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is giving no indication he plans on retiring any time soon. Cancer experts say Buffett's diagnosis shouldn't be a major concern because it appears his physician caught the disease early.

Police say a 22-year-old suburban Phoenix woman has admitted she lied about being kidnapped in order to meet her beau in Mexico. Her family believed that her boyfriend, 19-year-old Jesus Antonio Araque Mondragon, had arranged her kidnapping after fleeing to Mexico. Wow, love is blind.

Man Dies Saving Child from Riptide, Bobby Petrino fired

A heroic 65-year-old man jumped directly into a powerful Florida riptide and rescued a little girl before suffering a "cardiac event" in the water that led to his death. Alan Hall and his wife saw three children playing near the shoreline as a powerful current began to build. Seconds later, the children started screaming for help. Their parents rushed into the water and were each able to pull a child to safety, but a third child, a little girl, was still in harms way in the rough water. The 65-year-old man jumped into the tide without hesitating. After pushing the child to safety, Alan Hall's heart stopped.

Athletic director Jeff Long fired Petrino on Tuesday night and laid out a stunning laundry list of misdeeds against the man he hired away from the Atlanta Falcons four years ago. ''Coach Petrino abused his authority when over the past few weeks he made a staff decision and personal choices that benefited himself and jeopardized the integrity of the football program,'' Long said.
